THE PEACE AND BODY ROLL DUO
BOOMscat, also knows as the Peace and Body Roll Duo, is the combination of multi-instrumentalist/producer Asha Santee (BOOM) and vocalist/songwriter Jennifer Patience Rowe (scat). Together, the Washington, D.C based duo combines lush production with vulnerable songwriting improvisation, and an honesty that captures their audience. This performance film, directed by Long was commissioned by Brandeis University as part of their MusicUnitesUS 2021 fall residency curated by ethnomusicologist, Dr. Allie Martin. Featuring live set and interview that explores the band's 'peace and body roll' ethos.

This documentary traces collective memories of DMV natives to tell the story of the cultural role that go-go music plays in Washington D.C.’s changing landscape. Long weaves together interviews from attendees, band members, and other cultural contributors to capture how the scene has evolved.
